Stone Services in Darlaston is now offering the cheapest petrol in the 12 mile search area covering Stone and surrounding forecourts. Standard E10 petrol was priced at 167.9p a litre at the end of Wednesday 30 September 2026, following a price cut on the same day.

The next lowest price was Jacks Service Station at 169.7p a litre. Three Stone forecourts — Morrisons, Fairway Esso and Fillybrook BP — were all at 169.9p, meaning four of Stone's five forecourts ended the week at 169.9p or below.

Darlaston's petrol price fell by 2p on Wednesday from 169.9p to 167.9p. The station had started the week at 168.9p before briefly rising by 1p mid-week. The final reduction left it 1p cheaper than at the beginning of the reporting week.

Comparison to national average and other areas

At 167.9p, Darlaston's petrol was 6.8p below the national average of 174.7p reported by the RAC Foundation on Wednesday. On a 55 litre purchase, Darlaston's price would cost around £92.35, compared to around £96.09 at the national average — a saving of £3.74.

A week earlier, the picture was different. At the end of Wednesday 23 September, Asda Wolstanton was cheaper at 167.7p, while Darlaston was Stone's cheapest at 168.9p. By the end of the following week, Asda Wolstanton had risen to 170.7p.

Prices across Stone forecourts

The difference between the cheapest and most expensive petrol in Stone was 7p a litre — equivalent to £3.85 on a 55 litre purchase between Darlaston and Walton Shell. Notably, petrol prices barely moved at most Stone stations during the week. Darlaston was the only one of the five forecourts to finish at a different price from where it started.

Diesel prices lag behind wider area

For diesel drivers, Darlaston also finished as Stone's cheapest at 195.9p a litre. Fairway, Fillybrook and Morrisons were all at 197.9p, while Walton Shell was 198.9p. The cheapest standard diesel in the wider 12 mile search area was 189.9p at multiple Tesco and Sainsbury's forecourts in Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-under-Lyme, creating a 6p gap — equivalent to £3.30 on 55 litres.
