Residents across Stone can support this year's Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal at numerous shops, pubs and businesses throughout the town and surrounding villages.

The local appeal coordinator has released a list of participating locations. Additional collections will begin at supermarkets on Wednesday 28 October, with poppies also available at Brett's Barbers in Stone from that date.

Poppies will be collected at Morrisons, Aldi and M&S, though the local coordinator has advised that supermarket collections will depend on volunteer availability. There may be periods when collectors are not present.

A further collection point is due to begin at M6 Stafford Northbound services on Friday 30 October.

About the appeal

The annual appeal raises money to support serving members of the Armed Forces, veterans and their families. The national campaign launched on Thursday 22 October.

The Royal British Legion does not set a fixed donation amount for its standard poppies, asking people to give whatever they can afford.

Money raised through the appeal helps the charity provide support to serving personnel, veterans and their families, including assistance with financial hardship, bereavement and other difficulties.

Last year's Stone Poppy Appeal raised £34,482.61, according to local volunteer Dave Babb.
