Stone will hold its Remembrance Sunday commemorations on Sunday 8 November, with a traditional parade through the town centre followed by wreath laying and a service of remembrance at the war memorial in Granville Square.
The main gathering begins in the High Street during the morning. Parade personnel will assemble at the bottom of the High Street from 10.15am, with the parade setting off at 10.30am led by Stone Scout & Guide Band.
Wreath Laying and Service Times
The procession will make its way along the High Street to the war memorial in Granville Square, where Florence Brass Band will play. Wreath laying begins at 10.45am.
Those due to lay a wreath are asked to report to the parade marshal during the assembly in the High Street so they can be briefed on the ceremony.
At 11am, those gathered around the war memorial will observe the two minutes' silence, followed by the service of remembrance.
Church Service and Continuation
After the service in Granville Square, the parade will continue along the High Street and Church Street to the parish Church of St Michael and St Wulfad, again led by Stone Scout & Guide Band. The parade will disband following the church service.
Walton War Memorial Service
A separate service of remembrance will take place at the Walton war memorial on Whitemill Lane earlier on Sunday morning. People attending are asked to assemble at the memorial by 9.20am, ready for the service to begin at 9.30am.
Armistice Day Ceremony
The town's commemorations will continue on Wednesday 11 November with a short Armistice Day ceremony at the war memorial in Granville Square at 11am.
