Stone Town Council is hosting a free family Viking event at Westbridge Park on a date to be confirmed. The event will feature dramatic battle displays, living history demonstrations, and hands-on activities for visitors of all ages.
The day begins at 10.30am at the Stone Town Council Building car park on Station Road, where members of the public are invited to join a Viking longship crew as they march through the High Street to their encampment at Westbridge Park.
What to expect
Once at the park, visitors will experience an immersive Viking setting with battle displays, living history demonstrations, and authentic encampment activities. Guests can meet the warriors, try on armour and helmets, and handle Viking weapons under supervision.
Throughout the day, visitors will watch warriors repairing and maintaining their equipment and undertaking traditional crafting activities that showcase life in the Viking Age, spanning the 10th and 11th centuries.
Activities for children
Younger visitors can take part in the 'Kiddie Vike' experience, where they can safely join mock battles alongside the warriors. Stone Town Council will also offer free special-effects 'battle scar' make-up from 12 noon until 4pm on a first-come, first-served basis, expected to be extremely popular.
Food and facilities
Visitors are welcome to bring their own picnics. Food and drink vendors will also be available on site.
