Yarnfield Park, a 338-bedroom venue near Stone, has been awarded ECOsmart Gold accreditation through the Greengage certification scheme. The venue is one of five sites operated by The Venues Collection to achieve Gold status.

What ECOsmart assesses

ECOsmart evaluates hotels and meeting venues across energy and water use, waste reduction, responsible purchasing and community engagement.

Sustainability measures at Yarnfield Park

The accreditation followed work carried out through The Venues Collection's Future First Charter. Measures introduced across the group include sending no waste to landfill, adding carbon information to menus, diverting food waste to anaerobic digestion, generating renewable electricity and investing in solar powered electric vehicle charging.

The venue

Yarnfield Park hosts meetings, conferences and training events for up to 500 people.

The other venues covered by the accreditation are Kents Hill Park, Milton Hill House, Sedgebrook Hall and Eastwood Hall.

Joanne Barratt, managing director of The Venues Collection, said: "As expectations around sustainable events continue to grow, we want to make it easier for organisers to select venues that support their own environmental goals."
