A 508-tonne abnormal load is due to travel along the A34 past Stone on Saturday, with drivers warned to expect temporary delays.
The load, measuring 96 metres long and 5.8 metres wide, will depart from GE in Stafford early on Saturday morning. It will travel past Asda before following Weston Road and Beaconside to join the A34 northbound.
The convoy will pass Stone, continue through Hanford and around Newcastle-under-Lyme, before rejoining the A34 towards Congleton.
Traffic disruption expected
Drivers travelling north or south on the A34, as well as those crossing at junctions, may experience delays as traffic is temporarily held to allow the convoy to pass. Previous abnormal load movements along this route have required traffic to be stopped at roundabouts and junctions, with the transporter sometimes needing to use the opposite carriageway.
About the load
GE's Stafford factory manufactures large electrical transformers. The precise equipment being transported on Saturday has not been confirmed.
These loads typically leave Stafford between 8am and 9am, following final vehicle checks.
