Recruitment firm Pro-Drive has relocated to Unit 1 at Diamond Business Park in Stone. The three-person team provides recruitment and staffing support to businesses across Staffordshire and the wider region.
Company background
Pro-Drive was established in 1995 by experienced haulage driver Glyn Skyrme, who identified a gap in the market for a recruitment service with specialist knowledge of the transport industry.
The business is now led by Alex Skyrme, Managing Partner, and Katie Skyrme, who handles accounts, payroll and recruitment. Senior Recruitment Consultant Joe Birks completes the team.
Specialisation in transport
Transport and logistics remain at the core of Pro-Drive's work. The company recruits HGV drivers and other transport professionals, and also handles vacancies in industrial, commercial and clerical positions on temporary, ongoing and permanent bases.
Staff members have previous experience as HGV drivers and transport managers, giving them practical knowledge of the roles they recruit for. The team visits clients and understands their workplaces rather than relying solely on vacancy descriptions.
Why Stone
Alex Skyrme said Stone's location and transport connections made it a natural base. "Being at the heart of Staffordshire, with excellent road links and close proximity to the M6, A34 and the wider network of transport and logistics businesses, it's ideally placed for the industry we work in," he said.
"Stone is a close-knit community with a strong local business network, and being based here has allowed us to build genuine, long-standing relationships with both our clients and our drivers."
Current work and expansion
Pro-Drive currently works with employers and candidates across Staffordshire, Cheshire, Derbyshire and Stoke-on-Trent. Current vacancies include HGV Class 1 and Class 2 driving roles around Stoke-on-Trent, Stafford, Derby, Uttoxeter and Crewe, along with general operative, forklift truck, administration and office support positions.
The company is looking to speak to local businesses needing recruitment support and expects to expand its own team in the near future.
