Staffordshire County Council has announced six weeks of overnight road closures across Stone town centre for a resurfacing programme beginning Monday 7 September and running until Friday 16 October.
The work forms the next phase of the council's wider highway improvement scheme in and around Stone. Closures will be restricted to Monday to Thursday nights between 8pm and 6am.
Roads Affected
The following roads will be impacted by the resurfacing programme: Crown Street, Christchurch Way, Station Road, Stafford Street, Newcastle Street, Granville Square, Northesk Street, Longton Road, Kings Avenue, Radford Street, and Old Road.
The six-week period covers the full resurfacing programme across the scheme, rather than all roads being closed for the entire duration. Residents and businesses on Radford Street have already received notification from Amey, the contractor carrying out the work with Staffordshire County Council.
Access and Diversions
Access to properties along the works will be maintained where possible, although Amey has warned there may be periods when this cannot be done safely. Signed diversion routes will be put in place during closures. Drivers are asked not to park within areas where resurfacing is taking place.
This resurfacing work follows an initial phase that focused on repairs to kerbs, footways, drainage, and work at crossing points.
