A Little Bit of Stone is asking residents and local organisations across Stone and the surrounding villages to contribute stories about their communities.
The publication is seeking news that does not begin with official announcements or press releases, but instead comes from people noticing achievements, organising events or drawing attention to issues that matter locally.
What stories are wanted
Updates are welcome from community groups, sports clubs, schools, charities, churches, neighbourhoods and voluntary organisations. These could cover fundraising achievements, anniversaries, awards, interesting local people, new projects or unusual events.
Competition results, new members, presentations, visits, volunteering activities and forthcoming plans are all of interest. Stories do not need to cover major events.
Personal achievements also count — completed challenges, charity fundraising, awards or important milestones reached by Stone residents.
Concerns about local issues are also welcome, including spotted problems, planned changes or matters residents ought to be aware of.
How to submit
Contributors do not need to be journalists or send finished articles. A few clear details and a photograph are often enough to begin. A Little Bit of Stone can work with rough notes, bullet points or information taken from newsletters, checking details and tidying wording before publication.
Submissions should include the names of those involved, what happened, where and when it took place, and any useful contact details. Original photographs are welcome if permission for publication is available.
Letters and considered opinions about issues affecting Stone and nearby villages are also welcomed. These should focus on the issue rather than making personal attacks and must include the writer's full name and contact details (which will not be published). Writers should state any relevant role, membership or personal interest that readers should know about. Publication is at the editor's discretion, and letters may be edited for length, clarity and legal reasons.
A Little Bit of Stone cannot be everywhere or know about every achievement, concern and good idea in the community. Submissions can be made through the publication's channels.
