James Du Pavey, a Stone-based estate agent, reported one of its busiest Augusts in 2026, with sales activity significantly outpacing the same month the previous year.
The agency agreed 140 sales during August. This figure was 27% higher than August 2025. The average price of homes on which sales were agreed was 5.6% higher than in August 2025.
James Du Pavey operates across Stone, Eccleshall, Cheadle, Nantwich and surrounding areas. The figures reflect its wider business rather than Stone alone.
Summer market activity and buyer behaviour
The agency noted that buyers remained active during the summer months, though many were taking time over their decisions before committing to a property.
Supply and pricing advice for sellers
The agency's Autumn 2026 market report points to increased choice for buyers, with the supply of homes for sale close to a 12-year high for this time of year.
James Du Pavey said sellers need to pay particular attention to how homes are priced, presented and marketed when they first come onto the market.
Wider regional growth
The report highlights stronger house price growth in some of the areas covered by the agency's branches, including parts of Staffordshire and the North West.
The agency said the 140 sales agreed during August gave it confidence heading into the autumn market, traditionally an important period for buyers and sellers.
