Residents gathered on Stone Common on Wednesday 12 August to watch a partial solar eclipse as the Moon passed across the face of the Sun.

Local photographer Ian Knight spent a couple of hours on the Common photographing the eclipse. He described the atmosphere: "There was a lovely community atmosphere with everyone sharing stories throughout and sharing methods of seeing the eclipse."

The eclipse was visible across the UK. In the Stone area, maximum eclipse came shortly after 7.10pm.

Ian Knight has shared a collection of photographs from the evening, captured during his time on Stone Common.
